An ability test of social judgment — real situations, each with a more and less socially intelligent answer
About this assessment
An ability-based test of social intelligence: how accurately you read people and situations and choose effective responses — not how socially skilled you believe you are. Every item is a real scenario with a more and a less socially intelligent answer, keyed to social-cognitive research and the competencies measured by instruments like the Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale (social information processing, social skills, and social awareness). It taps three abilities: reading the situation, choosing a social strategy, and perspective-taking — inferring others' mental states and how you come across. For education and self-reflection.

About the Social Intelligence Test
An ability-based test of social intelligence: how accurately you read people and situations and choose effective responses — not how socially skilled you believe you are. Every item is a real scenario with a more and a less socially intelligent answer, keyed to social-cognitive research and the competencies measured by instruments like the Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale (social information processing, social skills, and social awareness). What this test measures
Your result is broken down across 3 distinct dimensions rather than collapsing everything into a single number. Each dimension is scored from its own set of items, so you can see which specific pattern is driving your overall result.
Reading the Situation — measured across 8 items.
Social Strategy — measured across 8 items.
Perspective-Taking — measured across 8 items.
How to read your result
Scores fall into one of 4 interpretive bands. Here is what each one means, what tends to sit underneath it, and what usually helps.
Developing Social Read
On these scenarios you often missed the most socially intelligent read or response. Social intelligence is a learnable skill set, and these are the situations to practice.
What it suggests Lower scores usually trace to one or two of the three abilities — most often misreading subtext, or not anticipating how you come across. The breakdown shows whether reading, strategy, or perspective-taking cost you most.
What helps Start with your weakest ability. If "perspective-taking" lagged, pause before sending messages to ask how they will land. If "reading" lagged, practice naming what might be going on beneath the surface before reacting.
Capable in Familiar Settings
You handle clear social situations well and pick the skillful move much of the time, with blind spots when the cues are subtle or the stakes are higher.
What it suggests A common, workable profile: good instincts that slip in ambiguous or charged moments. The breakdown shows which of the three abilities is strongest and which lags.
What helps Target your two lowest abilities. Most gains here come from slowing down to read subtext and from checking your assumptions about what others are thinking before acting on them.
Socially Astute
You consistently read situations accurately and respond in ways that connect and de-escalate, including in subtle or tricky moments. Social read is a real strength for you.
What it suggests Strong scores across abilities indicate you integrate reading, strategy, and perspective-taking well. The breakdown shows your sharpest ability and where the most headroom remains.
What helps Push the one ability that lags. At this level it is often perspective-taking under pressure — staying aware of how you come across when you are stressed or strongly opinionated.
Exceptional Social Intelligence
You reliably read subtle social cues, anticipate how things will land, and choose responses that build rapport and defuse tension. This is the top tier on this assessment.
What it suggests High scores across all three abilities reflect genuine social skill, not just confidence: you read situations accurately, act strategically, and track others' perspectives. This combination underlies strong influence and trust.
What helps Your edge is in complex group dynamics and helping others navigate them. Keep testing your reads against what people actually say — at this level the main risk is over-trusting a fast, usually-right intuition.
How this test is scored
Social Intelligence Test contains 24 items and takes about 9 minutes. Responses are combined using a sum method across the dimensions listed above, then mapped to the interpretive bands above. Your percentile is an interim estimate that sharpens as more people take the test, and is labelled as provisional in your result.
The test ships in 2 parallel forms that rotate between takes, so repeat visitors do not simply memorise the same items.
Limits of this assessment
This is an educational, self-reflective assessment — not a diagnosis. A questionnaire can describe a pattern and point you toward language for it, but it cannot account for your history, context, or circumstances, and it is not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified professional. If a result concerns you, treat it as a reason to talk to someone rather than as a verdict.
Your answers are scored on your device. Taking this test requires no account, no email address, and no payment, and your full result — every band, every dimension — is shown to you immediately and in full.
